From their atelier in the prestigious New Mart Building in Los Angeles’ historic Fashion District, the husband-and-wife team of Magid Mehrabadi and Michele Bernard are revitalizing the art of made-to-measure.

In addition to presenting a full collection twice yearly, the designers work individually with their clients to re-interpret and create each garment in the collection to the size, fit and requirements of its wearer. The result is a body of work spanning two decades that is not only impressive to look at, but has proven eminently wearable by today’s woman.

Michele and Magid began their fashion careers in the early 1980’s. They quickly realized every young designer’s dream when they were able to produce and sell their clothing through retailers across the country.  But the couple’s passion for perfection soon led them to realize that they were well-suited for custom work.  They were only truly happy when they could see the finished product on their clients and know that they had created a flawless fit and a silhouette that was perfectly flattering.  Whether a casual outfit or an elaborate evening gown, every MAGID BERNARD garment is a labor of love; and its completion is a celebratory event between the designers and their clients.

The MAGID BERNARD label is known for its exquisite European fabrics and hand-craftsmanship as well as its modern interpretation of classic feminine beauty. Central to the collection are clean, fluid designs that allow Magid and Michele to focus on the way clothing relates to a woman’s body. Timeless pieces such as their signature French lace unlined jackets, exquisite open jackets embroidered in Barcelona, and their astonishingly engineered bias cut dresses are favorites among an international clientele that includes political figures, business leaders, celebrities, and social doyennes.

But Michele and Magid resist being labeled strictly as designers to the elite.  The glamour and excitement of serving a prestigious clientele is undeniable, but equally rewarding is making a garment for that young working woman who has so carefully saved for her “first MAGID BERNARD”.  Regardless of who she is, the common bond among MAGID BERNARD women is the joy and confidence that comes from wearing something that is not only beautiful in itself, but is beautiful on her!
